Cookie Policy (EU)

Cookie Policy

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website to provide you with the best possible user experience, to deliver our services, to analyze website usage, and to optimize our marketing activities. In accordance with applicable data protection law (in particular the GDPR and TTDSG), we hereby inform you about which cookies and tracking tools are used, for what purpose they serve, and how you can manage your consent.

What are cookies? Cookies are small text files that your browser stores on your device. These files contain certain information (e.g., an anonymous identifier) that enables our website or third-party providers to recognize your browser the next time you visit ( e-recht24.de) . Cookies can be divided into technically necessary cookies (these are essential for the operation of the website or the provision of certain functions) and non-necessary cookies (e.g. for analysis or marketing purposes) (e-recht24.de ). We only set non-essential cookies with your express consent. You can reject all non-essential cookies or select specific categories via our cookie banner. Technically necessary cookies are always active, as the website would not function properly without them.

Technically necessary and functional cookies

These cookies are necessary for the operation of the website and the provision of our services, or fulfill purely functional purposes (e.g., preference settings). No consent is required for these cookies under applicable law. We base their use on Section 25 (2) TTDSG and Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in a functioning and secure website). Specifically, we use the following necessary/functional cookies:

  • Cloudflare security cookies (__cf_bm, _cfuvid): We use the CDN and security service Cloudflare, which sets cookies to protect the website from harmful bot traffic. The __cf_bm cookie helps to distinguish malicious bots from legitimate users and is necessary for the functionality of the bot protection measures ( developers.cloudflare.com ). It is set automatically by Cloudflare when you visit our protected site and expires after a short time (usually 30 minutes of inactivity) ( developers.cloudflare.com ). The _cfuvid cookie also serves security purposes—it helps Cloudflare identify trusted web traffic and optimize performance (e.g., load limiting) ( developers.cloudflare.com ). These cookies do not contain any personally identifiable information and cannot be read by us. They are essential for maintaining the network security and accessibility of our website.
  • Stripe payment cookies (__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid, m): We use the services of Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd., Ireland) to process online payments. Stripe uses cookies via the integrated Stripe.js script to prevent fraud and enable secure transactions. In particular, the cookies __stripe_mid and __stripe_sid are set on our domain, and the cookie m is set on the Stripe domain m.stripe.com. These cookies collect signals to distinguish legitimate user behavior from fraudulent activity ( stripe.com ). For example, they enable Stripe to recognize whether a visitor is behaving like a normal customer or like a bot/fraudster (e.g., fraud bots often spend less time on the site) ( stripe.com) . The data collected by these cookies (e.g., device information, usage behavior) is used exclusively for fraud detection and prevention ( stripe.com). Stripe does not share or sell this data for advertising purposes ( stripe.com ). Stripe cookies are necessary to provide a secure payment function; without them, there could be an increased risk of fraud. (For more information, see the Stripe Privacy Policy at https://stripe.com/privacy. Stripe claims to be certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework to ensure adequate data protection when transferring data to the US.)
  • Language selection cookie (wp-wpml_current_language): This first-party cookie is set by our WordPress multilingual plugin (WPML) and stores the currently selected language of the website (wpml.org). It ensures that the pages continue to be displayed in your preferred language as you navigate. This cookie improves user-friendliness (functional purpose) and usually expires after a certain period of time or as soon as you change the language. It only contains the language code (e.g., “de” or “en”) and no personal data.
  • Emoji support cookie (wpEmojiSettingsSupports): Another functional cookie on our WordPress site. This session cookie checks whether your browser can support certain emoji characters (qlarant.com). WordPress sets this cookie when you load a page with emoji content in order to display graphic emojis correctly, if necessary. The cookie serves purely technical/aesthetic purposes and is only used during your session. It does not store any personal information.
  • Cookie settings cookie (cmplz_cookie_data): This cookie is set by our consent management plugin Complianz to store your privacy settings. Specifically, it records which cookies/categories you have allowed or rejected (cookiedatabase.org). This means you don’t have to make your selection again each time you visit, and we can ensure that rejected cookies remain blocked. The cookie stores a data structure of your consent (without containing any personal data itself) and has a lifetime of 365 days (complianz.io). It is technically necessary to implement your chosen cookie preferences.

(Note: Some necessary cookies come from third-party providers such as Cloudflare or Stripe. However, these are used exclusively for the purposes stated (security or payment) and not for marketing or tracking your behavior for advertising purposes. They cannot be technically deselected via our consent banner, as without them the site would not be secure or functional.

Analysis cookies (statistics)

We want to understand how visitors use our website so that we can continuously improve it. For this purpose, we use cookies for web analysis – only with your prior consent. The usage information obtained by these cookies (e.g., pages visited, length of stay, interactions) helps us to measure interest in our content and to find out which areas may need to be optimized. The legal basis for their use is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR); you can accept or reject these cookies on your first visit and change your decision at any time. We primarily use the following services for analytics:

  • Google Analytics 4 (web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Ltd., Ireland): We use Google Analytics to collect pseudonymized usage statistics. Google Analytics uses cookies such as *_ga* (e.g., _ga and _ga_<property-id>) for this purpose. The _ga cookie assigns a randomly generated identifier to distinguish returning visitors and stores data about website usage (cookie.is). Another cookie (_ga_<ID>) is used to store session data. Important: Google Analytics 4 does not store the full IP addresses of EU users, as IP addresses are anonymized before each storage (support.google.com). We have enabled IP anonymization so that the IP transmitted by your browser within the EU is truncated and not stored in full. Google Analytics provides us with reports on, for example, visitor numbers, popular pages, devices used, etc., without identifying individual persons. Google cookies have a lifetime of up to 2 years (Google Analytics 4 deletes/renews them after 6 months to 2 years, depending on your interaction). Data transfer to the USA: It cannot be ruled out that Google may forward the analytics data to Google servers in the USA for processing. However, Google is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (dataprivacyframework.gov), which is intended to guarantee a level of protection in the US that is equivalent to the EU data protection level. In addition, we have concluded EU standard data protection clauses with Google. You can revoke your consent to Google Analytics at any time; then no more Analytics cookies will be set and Google Analytics will not be activated.
  • Adobe Analytics (analysis service from Adobe Systems Software Ireland Ltd.): Our website uses some cookies from Adobe Analytics, recognizable, for example, by the cookie name s7. This cookie is used to collect data about website usage and user behavior (nea.com). Similar to Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics helps us obtain summary statistics – for example, about how users navigate through our pages or which content is most popular. The s7 cookie can be a session cookie (lasting only for the current session) or have a defined lifetime, depending on the Adobe configuration. Cookies set by Adobe are also only activated with your consent. The data may be transferred to Adobe servers outside the EU (possibly the US); Adobe contractually guarantees an adequate level of data protection. You can control these cookies, like all analytics cookies, via our banner.
  • HubSpot Analytics (service provided by HubSpot, Inc. / HubSpot Ireland Ltd.): We use HubSpot on our site for analysis and marketing purposes (see Marketing below). HubSpot sets several cookies to track your visit and recognize repeat visits, if applicable. Important HubSpot cookies include __hstc (main cookie for visitor analysis), __hssc/__hssrc (track sessions), and hubspotutk (to recognize a visitor across visits) (cookie.is) (cookie.is). For example, __hstc contains the domain, timestamps of the first and last visits, and a session number (cookie.is). The hubspotutk cookie stores an anonymous user ID (a unique identifier as a GUID) and enables HubSpot to identify a visitor when filling out a form and avoid duplicate contacts (cookie.is). HubSpot cookies have different lifespans – typical tracking cookies remain stored for approximately 6 months (or 30 minutes for session cookies) (knowledge.hubspot.com) (knowledge.hubspot.com). We use HubSpot to collect information about which pages you have visited, whether you have filled out a form, or subscribed to our newsletter. We use this information to measure the success of our content and to improve communication. HubSpot may store the data on servers in the US or other third countries. An adequate level of data protection is ensured by standard contractual clauses and HubSpot’s commitment to the GDPR. Again, HubSpot analytics features are only activated if you have given us your prior consent.

(You can refuse analytics cookies without affecting the functionality of the website. If you do not accept these cookies, your visit data will not be included in our statistics and we will respect your privacy preferences.)

Marketing and tracking cookies

We also use cookies for advertising and marketing purposes, but only with your consent. These enable us to show you relevant content and ads on our website or third-party platforms and to measure the success of our advertising campaigns. Such cookies may originate from us or our advertising partners (third-party providers) and are used, for example, for remarketing (re-targeting visitors) or conversion tracking (tracking conversions after advertisements). The legal basis for marketing cookies is also Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR (consent). If you reject marketing cookies, no corresponding tracking pixels or advertising scripts will be loaded. Specifically, we use the following marketing technologies:

  • Meta Pixel (Facebook Pixel): We use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel from Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. on our website. This tracking pixel enables us to evaluate Facebook/Instagram advertisements and form so-called custom audiences. When you visit our site, the pixel can track your actions (e.g., which pages you visited or which products you viewed) (traffic3.net). From this, we can deduce whether you came to us via a Facebook ad, for example, and whether certain actions (conversions such as purchases or contact requests) have taken place. Meta sets cookies in your browser for the pixel, e.g., the _fbp cookie on our domain. This cookie contains a randomly generated user ID and the time of your first visit (traffic3.net) in order to recognize you on subsequent visits and, if necessary, to assign multiple visits to the same person. The _fbc cookie may also be set if you arrive at the website via one of our Facebook/Instagram ads – it contains the ID of the ad you clicked on so that a conversion can be attributed to that ad (traffic3.net). Pixel cookies are typically valid for 90 days (_fbp/_fbc 3 months each) (traffic3.net). Data transmission and use: The data collected by the pixel (e.g., URLs accessed, your IP address, browser information, a pixel ID, possibly converted values) is transmitted to Meta. Meta can merge this data with your Facebook/Instagram account if you are logged in there (traffic3.net). This allows us to display targeted advertising to you on these platforms (retargeting). Meta also uses the data to measure the effectiveness of our advertisements (e.g., which ads led to a purchase). Meta may also process the data on servers in the US. Meta claims to be certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, and we also rely on standard contractual clauses with Meta. Important: We only use the pixel after you have given your consent. You can deactivate the pixel at any time via our cookie settings. You can also opt out of personalized advertising from Meta within your Facebook/Instagram account. Meta provides further information in its data policy and specifically on the Meta pixel.
  • Google Ads & Conversion Tracking: We place Google ads (Google Ads) and use Google Ads Conversion Tracking and Google Tag Manager on our site to manage advertising tags. If you arrive at our website via a Google ad, Google sets a conversion cookie to measure the success of the ad. Specifically, a cookie such as _gcl_aw or _gcl_dc is stored on our domain, which contains information about which ad you clicked on in order to attribute any conversion to your click (traffic3.net). These cookies have a lifetime of approximately 90 days (traffic3.net). Google Ads also uses the cookie _gcl_au (conversion linker) on our website, which stores a random user ID (for 90 days) (traffic3.net). This cookie helps to assign advertising clicks across domains and analyze the effectiveness of ads (optimizesmart.com). The Google service DoubleClick (advertising network) is also integrated: DoubleClick sets the cookie test_cookie on the domain .doubleclick.net, for example. This short-lived cookie (duration approx. 15 minutes) serves purely technical purposes to check whether your browser accepts cookies (support.microsoft.com) (traffic3.net) – it does not contain any user ID or advertising ID. Within the framework of Google Ads/DoubleClick, additional cookies may also be used to display personalized advertising with your consent (e.g., IDE from DoubleClick with a 1-year runtime, which contains a pseudonymous ID for recognition across websites (traffic3.net)). Data processing: The information collected by Google advertising cookies (e.g., that you clicked on our ad and then visited certain pages or made purchases) is transmitted to Google Ireland and, if applicable, Google LLC (USA). Google uses this information to provide us with conversion statistics and – if you have consented – to display personalized ads. Google is certified under the EU-US Privacy Framework (dataprivacyframework.gov) to secure transfers to the USA. Google Tag Manager: We use Google Tag Manager for technical implementation. Tag Manager itself does not set any cookies and does not collect any personal data (sea-coaching.de). It only loads the above-mentioned tags/code from Google Ads, which sets these cookies. You can reject all Google Ads/tracking cookies by deactivating “Marketing” in the cookie banner. Conversion tracking will then remain inactive.
  • We use Google Ads Conversion Tracking with the “Enhanced Conversions” feature. When you interact with our website (for example, by making a purchase, registering, or submitting a contact form), certain personal data you provide (such as email address or name) may be sent to Google in hashed form (encrypted) to improve the accuracy of our conversion measurements. These hashed data points are used exclusively for matching conversions and cannot be directly read by Google. Conversion tracking and Enhanced Conversions are only activated if you have given your explicit consent via our cookie banner. For more details on how Google processes data, please refer to the Google Privacy Policy.
  • HubSpot (marketing functions): As described above for Analytics, we also use HubSpot to support marketing and sales activities. HubSpot allows us, for example, to track whether a visitor returns or whether a contact has opened our newsletter multiple times. This enables us to better tailor our communication to interests. HubSpot cookies (in particular hubspotutk, __hstc) enable us to recognize a website visitor on subsequent visits and assign their usage behavior (cookie.is). Combined with information that you actively provide us (e.g., by filling out a contact form), we can identify you as a prospective customer and send you relevant content—but only if you have consented to tracking. Without your consent, HubSpot marketing features remain disabled. If you have consented, you can revoke this consent at any time with future effect (e.g., via our Cookie Settings” link). HubSpot processes data partly in the US; as mentioned, protection is ensured via standard contractual clauses. Details on data protection at HubSpot can also be found in the HubSpot Privacy Policy.

(Note: Other marketing tools (e.g., LinkedIn Insight Tag, Twitter Pixel, etc.) are not currently used. If we use new advertising partner cookies in the future, we will list them in this policy and query them in the consent banner.)

Consent management & rights

Changing cookie settings: You can adjust or revoke your consent at any time. To do so, click on the “Cookie Settings” link on our website (in the footer or the cookie banner) – there you can activate/deactivate categories retrospectively. Alternatively, you can delete or block cookies that have already been set via your browser settings. Please note, however, that if you block all cookies (including necessary cookies), the functionality of our website may be limited.

Legal basis: As described above, we only set cookies and trackers that are not technically necessary on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). For technically necessary cookies, we refer to Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in the operation of a functioning website and the services offered) and § 25 (2) TTDSG, which allows the storage/access to information in the end device without consent if this is absolutely necessary. You have the right to revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future. The legality of the data processing carried out until revocation remains unaffected.

Third country transfers: Some of the third-party providers mentioned (e.g., Google, Meta, Stripe, HubSpot) are based outside the EU (in particular in the USA). By consenting to the use of the corresponding cookies at , you also consent to the transfer of personal data to the USA. The US does not currently have a level of data protection comparable to that of the EU; in particular, there is a risk that US authorities could access the data without you having any legal remedies under EU law. However, we have concluded contractual clauses with the providers that are intended to provide guarantees for data protection, and many providers have now joined the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (dataprivacyframework.gov). Nevertheless, the transfer is at your own risk and only with your consent.

Further information: For information on how we process your personal data in general (including independently of cookies) – for example, regarding storage periods, recipients, or your rights as a data subject (access, erasure, right to lodge a complaint, etc.) – please refer to our privacy policy on this website. If you have any questions about our cookies or data protection, you can contact us at any time using the contact details provided in the legal notice.

Status of this cookie policy: September 2025. We regularly review the cookies and services listed. Changes (e.g., new cookies or changed purposes) will be updated in this policy. Please check the current status when you visit.
